Search at Gormandale - missing boy found

BSAR attended the search for  a young boy at Gormandale on the weekend. Gormandale is south of Traralgon. The 3 year old went missing late on Saturday afternoon. Overnight, the Police, SES and CFA volunteers searched for the boy.

The boy was found early on Sunday morning and brought to search base.

A successful search and a good outcome for the young boy. 

Missing Victorian walker in the North East found

April 11, 2009 - 10:32AM

Police Search and Rescue teams and the Air Wing combed Victoria's Alpine National Park for a 38-year-old missing woman.  Friends said the woman, from Lara, southwest of Melbourne, was reported missing at about 7pm on April 10 after she failed to meet up with a walking group.

BSAR support for bushfire situation - message from Monica Chapman, Bush Search and Rescue Victoria Convenor

It is indeed a tragic time for those affected by these bushfires.  The Board of Bushwalking Victoria have already agreed to make an immediate donation on behalf of its members as a start.  Further support is still under discussion.

In the meantime, I contacted Police Search and Rescue on Monday Feb 9 to offer BSAR's support to fire relief efforts.

Search for two missing men at Lorne successful

Two walkers, Ryan Hurley and Harry Wild, were reported missing in the forest near Lorne on Tuesday 30 December 2008.  Fifteen Bush Search and Rescue members joined Police Search and Rescue, the SES and Parks Victoria on the search on Wednesday 31/12/2008.  Our four teams deployed on their search tasks late on Wednesday afternoon, camping out for the night. We targeted a search area near where Ryan and Harry where last seen off the Mount Sabine Road.

Search callout on November 3 2008

Police activated a callout early on Monday November 3 2008 for Bush Search and Rescue to assist with a search for two lost people missing overnight on Mount Buffalo.  The missing people were located later in the morning so the callout was cancelled.

Brisbane Ranges training weekend, September 2008

Date: 6 and 7 September 2008

Fifty Bush Search and Rescue members and prospective members participated in the recent training weekend, an excellent response given the clash with a very good snow season and Father’s Day. 

Our name is now Bush Search and Rescue Victoria

We are now Bush Search and Rescue Victoria  following a vote to comfirm our name change from Bushwalkers Search and Rescue.

Our name is also shortened to "Bush Search and Rescue" for common usage and elsewhere on this site.

We are also developing a new logo to match our new name.

Steep snow & ice training Mount Buller 2008

Bush Search and Rescue's annual Steep Snow and Ice Practice was held on Mount Buller's West Ridge on the 19 & 20 July 2008.

 

Mount Dom Dom search

Bush Search and Rescue participated in the extensive bush search at Dom Dom Saddle in March 2008. During the last week of March BSAR joined Police, VicSES, Country Fire Authority, SAR Dogs Australia, Parks Victoria and Melbourne Water in the large-scale search for 57yo Warren Meyer who went missing from a four-hour bushwalk on the morning of Sunday 23 Mar 2008 in the Dom Dom saddle area, NE of Melbourne.
