BSAR Steep snow and ice training
For BSAR members with Steep Snow and Ice rating, and those seeking it, the Steep Snow and Ice alpine training this year is on 29-31 July 2016 at Bogong Village/Falls Creek.  
The training will include travelling in alpine environments, snow and ice safety, rescue techniques, using crampons and ice axes and sled haulage on steep terrain.
Who should attend?
  • North East and other BSAR members keen to acquire steep snow and ice skills
  • BSAR members with Steep Snow & Ice rating "T" (technical) or "C" (competent)


  • Depart: Northcote 19:00, Friday 29 July
  • NE members meet at Bogong Villiage 07:00 Saturday 30 July
  • Return to Bogong village: 15:00 Sunday 31 July
  • Return to Northcote: late Sunday 31 July.    

What to bring

  • Personal steep snow and ice equipment.  Note: you must have ice axe and crampons to attend
  • Skis and/or snow shoes - please advise us if you need snow shoes.
  • Overnight snow camping equipment
  • Food: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, snacks.  Water: 1-2 litres 
  • Avalanche transceiver, probe and snow shovel if you have them

  • Please also inform your Club BSAR Delegate that you are attending.
