Victorian Backcountry Ski Festival at Falls Creek 1-2 Sep 2018

I will be representing BSAR at the Backcountry Ski Festival at Falls Creek this weekend 1 – 2 September.

BSAR members participating are free to wear BSAR safety clothing if they wish. 

The program on Saturday includes intros to telemarking, backcountry snow shoe tours, snow camping, navigation and beacon searching with tours in the afternoon

The program on Sunday includes resort skiing (you’ll need a lift ticket)  and 4-5 hour backcountry tours.

Premier, Minister for Emergency Services and family thank emergency services workers

BSAR searchers and other emergency services workers directly involved in the search for Luke Shambrook over Easter were thanked in State Parliament on Wednesday 22 April by Premier Daniel Andrews, the Minister for Emergency Services, Jane Garrett and Luke’s parents. The thanks for our efforts was warmly appreciated.

2013 Emergency Services Volunteer Leadership Forum

Eight Bush Search and Rescue Victoria members attended the 2nd Victorian Emergency Services Volunteer Leadership Forum held in May 2013. The event sponsored by the Emergency Services Foundation (ESF).  Around 170 delegates from around Victoria attended, including CFA, SES, Volunteer Ambulance Vic (CERT Teams), Red Cross, other regional Search and Rescue organisations, and BSAR.

BSAR attendees Paul Phillips, Trevor Key,  Eric Krista, Geoff Williams, Wayne Merry, Peter Campbell, Rod Costigan and Murray Irwin.
